Where do we Play?
I thought it would be useful if we knew where we played so that we could have social (or non-social) games with each other.
Last night I played a couple of games with "chess?" on playchess.com & I think we learned a lot - mainly that 10 mins or less is almost pointless for using what the course is about. But interested where everyone else plays. Maybe we could have a tournament every 2 months or so. To see who is progressing & to give us short term targets to aim for. I know some of us have posted the info elsewhere but it would be good to have it in a single place. I'm not any good at creating tables so please excuse the freehand below.
I have account on Playchess
I have account on ICC
(I also play in local club but only 8 gaimes last year as I have just started playing again).

Re: Where do we Play?
I play most at ICC, but i have an account at FICS too (mainly for atomic).
I played also a tournament on RHP (chess@work)
I think if we want to engage a tournament between the members of the forum, RHP is a good place to do, because when coming from so much different countries it is not easy to find a matching timeframe to play. So this kind of very slow games (one or multiple moves a day) is appropriate. (the main issue at RHP is cheating with computers, but i have to believe that people here are everything except cheaters).

Re: Where do we Play?
I keep hearing about cheating on the various chess programs I am in. I suppose I am lucky that I know nothing of computers and therefore would not even know how to cheat. I've not used RHP but sounds good - especially the idea that it is not rushed!!

Re: Where do we Play?
As Hoopy mentioned, I play on the chessbase server. I think the Fritz interface is the best I have seen on any of the servers I have tried in the past.
I am also at University again after many years. Well I am at the Polgar Chess University. When you sign up, you receive a one year membership at World Chess Live. As you all probably know, you can down load many different interfaces for the WCL. I just haven’t found one I like. I do not have an active club in my area, so to find an otb game is difficult to find.
Hey Hoopy, wana jump on a plane and play over the board?
Hoopy, I think your tournament idea is great. I hope to see you again Tuesday night.

Re: Where do we Play?
Talking about ICC, i played 8 great games today, raising almost 100 elo points, and the server just crashed !
It lost all of my games record, everything is to be done again.
Arghhhh.

Re: Where do we Play?
I play on ChessWorld as jmca - 100% turn-based.
I just recently started on Chess.com as jmcaree - ~ 8 games turn-based and 2 games Rapid (15-10, 20-10).
I play for a club also and have played in a few OTB tournaments. My current ELO rating (in Ireland) is 1315. (This might equate to ~1450-1500 USCF.) When I last played serious Chess in 1978/79 my rating was 1448. Interestingly I think I am playing better now than I did 30 years ago. I believe the standards have improved dramatically in the interim.

Re: Where do we Play?
Hi,
I was playing on uchess.com , but now planning to move playchess.com with fritz 12. mm, i am trying to buy a new premium membership on playchess.com. I believe, I am not going to play on any other chess engines due to time restrictions and cheating by lot of people.
Playchess.com, we can find very good people and ICS forum members also will be there. !! Will post my ID on different post after getting my premium account. !! -).

Re: Where do we Play?
I only play over the board in club chess now. I found that I ended up wasting hours online and not learning anything.
Now I play every Tuesday at my club, and maybe a couple weekends a month, plus enter 4 tournaments a year, about 60-70 games annually.

Re: Where do we Play?
After many years I am back on the Forum. I am now playing on Lichess.com, in my opinion it's the best on the internet. Easy to find a game of all time controls, I have encountered a few cheaters. But it's not out of control. Who wants to play on lichess.com? My ID is NanaimoBC

Probably one of the worst parts about lichess is "friends". All you can do is follow, but I don't even know what effect that has! I can't see a list of people that follow me nor a list of people I follow. If I forget your nick, I can never find you again!
It might be me not knowing it though.
