How much have you improved? (rating-wise)
I know ratings aren't everything and a lot of people are underrated/overrated, but just out of curiosity, have you guys seen a significant improvement in your ratings yet? Maybe people can share what their ratings were prior to taking this course and what their ratings are now after a "x" number of months? My USCF rating is about 1550 right now and I'm only in month 1 of the course, I'll post here once I'm done with the course, I'm hoping to get to 1800 and then eventually break 2000 with some hardwork and sweat

I signed up for the course in November 2010. At the time my rating was 1883. In month 4, I decided to take a break from the course after a horrific tournament result. My rating was down to 1862.
In August, I decided to restart the program and have been reaping the benefits. I've only played in a few tournaments since I've re-started, but my rating has jumped up to 1914. The best part is I am beating good players (1800-2100) and have only lost to Expert and Master strength players so far. Since August, my performance rating is over 2000. My last tournament a couple of weeks ago, I went 5-0 with a performance rating of 2359!
Most of my recent success is due to the opening repertoire. I was an 1.e4 player for 15 years and it was quite a transition to convert over to 1.d4. But it has worked so far.

I've gone from BCF 139 to 162, my highest ever, since starting the course, but haven't played OTB for a long time. My experience of the British Championships for a week was pretty much death by chess...

Re: How much have you improved? (rating-wise)
i signed on in Jan. of 2008, my rating at that time... I think it was about 1450 today I hang in at about 1800. Has anyone signed up for the other two "what really matters" and "pawn structure"? I just picked up both to early for an opinion.

Its still too early for me to answer, I'm currently 1693, and I'm working on month 1. I have been 1600 for quite a while, so by the end of this year or even in June I'll reply here again.

Your coach has a vested interest in your improvement, so it is not terribly surprising that he/she would rate you a little higher...

To be really honest, i never read or studied after the first month of the course, although the 12 months course is over for me . However, i practised a lot of tactics and studied games and tried to make better my positional understanding by studying and playing games with better rated opponents.
And in doing all these in last 2.5 years (when i started playing the game), i feel my rating incresed from ~900 to ~1500, to the extent that today i have even beaten a 1427 rated FIDE player in a rated tourney.
