4 Defensive technique
"you will learn how to defend inferior, even desperate, positions...... “active defense”, “defense in the trenches”, “creation of
confusion” and “the bluff”."
I am really interested in these as I don't know how to defend when I am 1 pawn down without compensation. Does anyone has any idea about them?

Re: 4 Defensive technique
The only thing I can recommend is to complicate the position to try to entice mistakes from your opponent.

I think so but it is an art to make the water dirty without allowing an immediate decisive lost.

Yes, sometimes it involves taking some risk in order to make complications... and sometimes it just isn't possible.

The first step is not to give away material without compenstation
Kidding aside, you will receive a "repertoire" of playing techniques throughout the course; how to accurately assess a position, when to open/close or leave the centre unsettled, active placement of the pieces, when to complicate and when not to, etc., etc...
You have to swallow the whole pill.
