Post by siva.uk75 September 22nd 2010, 12:05 pm

hi,
well the course structure is not yet started for kings gambit, but still would like to post this query here since this is related to opening course.

I am playing with white with kings gambit accepted please let me know without exchanging my queen with opponent, how can I get equal position, I am good at kings gambit accepted most of the matches i have won with this opening only.

Well, but long way to go.

--siva :: oops, previous post was wrong.. no wi have corrected it.

1. e4-e5 2. f4-exf4 2. Nf3-g5 3. h4-g4 4. Ne5-Qe7 5. d4-d6 ...

In this position what is the best step and how white should defend blacks attack without moving Qe2 step and get atleast at good position.

any idea, I know there are other alternatives like bobby fischer's Bc4 step .. before g4 from black and casteling at white's kings side. !!

any ideas are welcome.
cheers cheers rendeer santa cherry geek Wink Wink

I don't know, all of the games i played were as black player, and i always do 2... d4 followed immediately by Bd6 protecting f4 pawn as long as possible.

And most of the time, this line is not well handled by white and i get good games. Entering g4 continuation for black is too complicated on my opinion.

I only have 16 games in my DB, the one game not playing Qe2 played Be2 and got slammed by the two Black Bishops and lost quickly.

Overall, the stats show 8-6-2. Although I haven't analyzed the games to see if the stats are real, those odds look pretty good to me, and white is still winning in 2010.

It's not easy to find a line that good, why do you want to drop it?

Firstly, the Kings Gambit is not a positional game, it is highly tactical.

Secondly, white is at a disadvantage with that line. I put it into my engine and it says -0.24 for Nxg4. Black is better.

Analysis by Houdini 1.03a w32 2_CPU:
1. = (-0.24): 7.Nxg4
2. -/+ (-0.77): 7.Nd3
3. -/+ (-1.07): 7.Nc4
4. -+ (-2.20): 7.Bb5+
5. -+ (-2.41): 7.Bxf4

I currently believe the answer to your question "what is the best step and how white should defend blacks attack without moving Qe2 step and get atleast at good position." is that you can't if black plays accurately.

I get the same move order with Rybka (dynamic) that BorgQueen shows and a little further analysis supports his conclusion.

My usual approach to new openings is to merge some games and let the engine do a quick assessment then play though the analysis to get a quick feel for what's happening. Ususally it's a good idea to do a game analysis first and truncate games before the first blunder before merging games, something I didn't do here. It's amazing just how dangerous it is to rely on game statistics on raw games data!

It's interesting that the Super GMs as black avoided the line early. Anyway, heres some games in pgn you can look through for some ideas:
