General Course Errata
If you find any errors in the course material, post them here. This is not the place to post complaints, general questions about the course, something you are confused about or don't understand, or subtle suggestions for improvement in the course. This thread is only here to list obvious errors in the ICS course material such as that the board is drawn wrong, typos, and such. That is, it is the errata thread. Put everything else in the appropriate thread. I will delete it otherwise.

Re: General Course Errata
In Month 1, figure 6 of the document 'Making Decisions in Chess' white is a piece down, and they evaluate it as better for white because of a space advantage without mentioning the material difference. It seems they have left a piece off for white from the diagram.

Month 4 Board visualisation. You are supposed to give the next move blindfold.
1) d4 Nf6 2)Bg5 e3
How is ..e3 possible?.... clearly not. I'm surprised nobody mentioned this before (or like me does everyone find the Board visualisation so boring that they skipped it).If anyone has emailed ICS could they post response. Otherwise I will next week.

#7 Problem for month 1.
"22...Nd7 White was threatening to gain a pawn by Nxf6 and Nxe4."
It should be Bxf6 and Nxe4.

Month 1. Annotated game 1 Drazic - Anand. Move 4 variation follows Anand - Karpov game, where the 29th white move must be 29. Rc1 not Rd1 that hangs the white knight on c3.

Re: General Course Errata
Month 2 Soos vs Geller
ICS give a saving line for Black after White plays 15.Nh4!?
The line they give as leading to a draw by perpetual is as follows;
15...Nfxd5!! 16. Nxf5 Bxf5 17. Bxf5 Nxc3 18. Bxh7+ Kxh7 19. Qh5+ Kg8 20. Qxf7+ Kh7 and White has no more than perpetual check.
This is poor analysis however as 17...Nxc3?? is a clear howler from Black as White need not sacrifice the bishop with Bxf7 but rather just immediately play Qh5+! and Black has no defence.
You won't even need to use an engine to see this now it's pointed out although of course I didn't notice until my trusty Rybka engine showed me first

Re: General Course Errata
From pawncustodian:
Month 8:
Timman - Jussupow, Riga, 1995
Lesson pdf shows: 17...fg6; 18.Qd2, Nf4; which is not possible.
Checking the databases the game should read: 17...hg6; 18.Qd2, Bf4;

Re: General Course Errata
It would probably be a good idea to send corrections directly to ICS. It's good to have the thread, but we won't see corrections ICS is not aware of...
