Ex8 of set4 Empty Ex8 of set4

Post by gtq088 January 15th 2015, 3:01 pm

hello, this is my first post.

I have a question on Exercise8 of set4.

The annotation has the following, but I feel uncomfortable about it:
-----
16.Nxc4
I am convinced that you like more this position. White improved the position of his knight (on c4), the a1-rook will get an excellent position on a1, and the black king is more exposed.
-----
I would rather have a rook on c1 in this position. Doesn't the above mean "the a1-rook will get an excellent position on _c1_," ?

I asked this to admin@chessmasterschool by email 1 week ago, but he/she does not respond to this question.

thanks in advance

I believe this is a typo and that he really does mean Rook on c1.

Thankyou mrhollywood95, for taking time and check the annotation.

I was not sure since engines do not show me the answer directly.
It's good to be able to ask human players.

Thanks again mrhollywood95!

Hmm white's plan in the game (to 'fix' Black's isolated pawn on c5) is interesting.
I thought white would keep the pressure on c5 and prepare for timely dxc5.
