Officaly in the ICS!
Yestrday I sign to ICS, so I am in. As I am taking it seriously, I alreday know that hell of a hard study year is infront of me. Still my main fear is, that I will not be able to get over my bad chess habits and that I will not be able to incorporate all this new knowledge to concrete play.

Hi
As another newcomer to the ICS course can I empathise and wish you luck! Don't have self-doubt, that never did any good. As BorgQueen says, the material is all there and is good. If you look through some of the posts on this forum, you will find some people who are moaning about the material. But basically they are moaning because this is a difficult challenge we give ourselves which will require hard work. They want it handed to them on a plate! But you have to work hard for everything of value in this world!

Re: Officaly in the ICS!
I find I have to work VERY hard at calculation / visualisation training. All the positional skill in the world won't make a scrap of difference if you don't get your calculation skill up... and that takes practice and hard work!

Re: Officaly in the ICS!
As we are talking about visualization training I found an intresting link:
http://www.chessvideos.tv/chess-visualization-trainer.php
three important elements of visualization can be trained there.
1. Square colour
2. Routes for knights
3. Continuation of the blindfold games
I must say, that I made significant progress in Square colour, but I still have a lot of problems with Routes for knights and even more with Continuation of the blindfold games.
