Pawn Phalanx
Hi all,
I have just finished with the content "Structure Dynamism" and at the bottom of the pdf it says, the next subject will be "Pawn Phalanxes", but it's not, it's "Free Pawns".
Have they missed a chapter there or is it in a future month? The term pawn phalanx has always confused me so I was looking forward to studying it tonight, but it's not there!
Anyone know?
Cheers!

Re: Pawn Phalanx
A brief overview before your each this lesson: a pawn phalanx is 2 or more adjacent pawns.
It get power when at least one of the pawns is a free pawn or semi-free (in that case the other one become free after exchange advance/take/retake).
If the two pawns are free, the phalanx is hard to stop.
Finally on offensive mode its pawns should advance to take advantage of initiative, while in defensive mode it is more flexible (static vs dynamic) while flat (2 pawns on the same row).
Generally the mistake is to break the flat mode too soon when our pieces are not ready to sustain action, and this create weak squares or worse make it static and unable to advance, thus it is more a late middlegame tool (when some columns are already opened or semi opened).
The rest is explained in month 7...
