Intoducing Myself Empty Re: Intoducing Myself

Post by Strad April 19th 2009, 1:52 pm

Hi there.
I'm a new comer and i'm glad on finding this forum for sharing ideas.
First of all you must know i'm not English spoken but i do my best and hope you will catch my ideas behind my mistakes.
My account on ICS is on month 9, but i'm still fighting with month 6..:-( just not enough time to spend on chess.
I also play on ICC where my standars is around 1860 (and improving..:-))
Once i send an email to ICS suggesting a forum for students, they told me the idea was considered but rejected because often people get the wrong idea. I wonder if would be much, much interesting they guiding us to the "right idea".
I will be posting my ideas on differents topics soon

Great to have you, Strad.

Too bad they didn't start a forum. Let's hope this one is a success!

Hi Strad

I'm into the second month although still half way through month one. I had a look at the second month's material and I think it will take me half a year just to get through all the annotated games on the central pawn structures alone!

But its better to be thorough than to miss things out I think.

I've subscribed to the opening modules as well but I'm not even going to touch that yet, the main module is demanding enough.

I think the main module will take me two years and then probably another year or two on the opening stuff so basically I'm set for the next half decade near enough!

I'm really enjoying the course though so far :-)

Yeah Bilbo the main module is demanding indeed.
Second month is a harder one, it took me a big amount of effort to go through all that stuff.
I know when you finish the course they will release the second year course...:-) so maybe a decade is a very plausible range of time...lol

Late welcome to the forum.

After reading your introduction i wonder what you mean with 'a new comer'?
Does it mean you are relatively new to chess? If so then i am impressed with your 1860 rating on ICC. If it means something else then please explain for this stupid belgian. clown

Do you also play in a chess club? Or over the board, face to face, with friends?

Hi chesstiger!:
I mean "i'm new here in this forum" :-)
I'm not precisely a newbie in chess...playing for about 6 years but just one as a "serious improving player".
from time to time i test myself in real tournaments but now i'm focus on this course and playing internet ICC games as a training. Once i finished the course hope to get back into real tournaments with my new knowledge...:-).
