Access to long topics ?
For long topics with more than 1 page, when i click the subject i always go to page 1, which contains the oldest posts.
To go to recent posts, i have to click on the little numbers 1,2,3,...
Is there an option somewhere to go directly to the last page (recent posts) when clicking on the topic title ?

Re: Access to long topics ?
Unfortunately, there is no way for users to sort individual threads that way. Forumotion should add that option.
I have toyed with changing all threads to have the most recent posts in a thread first, but it is unnatural seeming and people's posts are likely to get lost in the shuffle. The way it is now, the list of threads within a subforum is sorted in descending chronological order, but the posts within a particular thread are sorted in ascending order. As I said, I tried reversing the latter, but it felt wrong so I put it back.
In other words, yer gonna have to click or scroll for multipage threads.

Hmmm, guess you forgot to reset some threads in general chess topic then since some give the newest post on top.

Re: Access to long topics ?
i am sure i asked this before. can we please have the newest addition on the top of the page? Rather than what HangingKing mentioned scrolling through the pages to arrive at the bottom?
Just a request, i wonder if anyone else would prefer to read the posts this way?

I don't. Every forum I've been on is like it is now. Turning the posts upside down makes it very weird imo.
You can click the "go to newest post" icon to immediately and effortlessly scroll to the first new post.

I like the way the Rybka forum by default points to the oldest unread post, but is in chronological order with the initial topic post first. After that it gets a bit fuzzy since they have a lot of threads inside threads. That doesn't seem to be a problem here.
It's probably a good idea to keep the original post at the top so lurkers can get a sense of the thread, but at the botom line, either way is fine to me.

Re: Access to long topics ?
Pawncustodian: yes, that's the reason when I reversed it it seemed unnatural. It discourages people from taking the time to read the beginning of the thread. People end up with a lot more repeated crap. Imagine if you don't want to press one mouse button to follow an active thread you care about, what if you have to press a button to find the first post in that thread that you just discovered and might not even care about? Even less likely.
So in sum, if a forum admin has to to choose, it seems good to have the first post first, as is the custom. I talked to the designers of this forum software and there is presently no way to allow users to modify this property, so the system is set for all. For now.

Re: Access to long topics ?
Isn't it simple enough to open the "View Newest Post" little orange page icon next to the red circle?

i am going to bring this up again, can we put the most recent post at the top please? To scroll in some cases, pages of content to reach the most recent post is a little ridiculous.
