I am not very happy with th eway in which this subject is analysed. the annotations are too light. I would rather preffer only 6-8 games but much more annotated.
A book which fit the same subject is "Dynamic Pawn Play in Chess" by Marovic. it may be helpfull for those which need extra material for this theme.

I have that book and it looks like a very good book on the subject! Unfortunately, I don't have time to go through that book with all the ICS courseload!

Same author as we mention above has a book called "Understanding Pawn Play in Chess". It's supposed to be more basic than his "Dynamic Pawn Play". Both books are supposed to be very good. Check out the reviews on Amazon.

Other authors obviously talk about basic pawn structures. Even Silman has couple of chapters I think in his "Reassess Your Chess" book on pawn structures.

I started a thread on this. I talk about two books on pawn structure to supplement my work in month 2.

Smile Well, note I'm still finishing month 1, so I'm going slowly.

In my opinion one of the best chess books. It was #1 for several decades in the top ten ( if not #1) in germany. This book and Euwes books made me a better player in the 70'. ( I did not play chess the last 25 jears, so my chess is lousy now ). Maybe 1/3 of the book is focused on Benoni-formations and lots of modern formations are missing, but no book is about everything.

The problem with the chessbooks: you have to read and understand them.
First read and understand the book on the table, THEN by the next. At the moment i have chessbooks for the next 5 jears
