Regarding FIDE duplicate ratings. Empty Regarding FIDE duplicate ratings.

I played in a FIDE rated tournament quite sometime back, when i newly learned how to move and develop the pieces and some tactics. The tournament had rated players highest uptill 1600 i guess.

I managed to get an official FIDE rating, as it depends on the average ELO of the opponents , hence it was very less - 1259.

Now, at present i am a relatively strong player, and i consider myself to be rated around ~1800, as i have seen beating rated players playing friendly OTB, or even in chess servers.

Now, my problem is, getting the rating from 1259 to 1800 in official FIDE is never a joke, but the sad part is, i have seen people who are not as strong as me, but getting 1400-1500 rating, just because their opponents average ELO was higher.

So what should i do? I have thoughts to go and create a duplicate FIDE ID and play in tournaments, and when that gets stabilized tell FIDE to remove this rating. How does it work? Any thoughts? What is the procedure to merge/remove duplicates?

I would think that registering for a tournament with a false FIDE ID would invite sanctions.

Better to just play up to your rating by entering the highest class you are eligible. There's a pretty interesting posts of the difficulties with the FIDE ratings in the general discussion area on the Chess Tempo forum.

@PawnCustodian: It's not false FIDE ID, it's starting afresh unrated, from the scratch.
Can you please post the link to the chess tempo forum, where you saw the post?

I didn't think you could compete with a second rating. That's a serious offense in the US where "sandbagging" is a problem in big money tournaments.

Definitely a no-no. Just play and don't worry so much about your rating is my advice.
