Could ICS Help? Empty Could ICS Help?

This is an interesting log of one individual's journey. What do you think? Would ICS accelerate the progress?

Couldn't hurt.

Seems like that individual has nothing better to do. I didn't bother reading the whole thing. I like summaries :-Þ

I think that the visualization-training in the ICS-course is supposed to help you because it enables you to calculate without using too much energy. Dont know if it actually works but i think it could - it makes sence. So maybe focus on the visualization training could help you,

I wanted MORE of that. I had too high expectations on what the ICS course could do for my visualisation training. It was a good start, but I need a lot more...

If only I knew a way to get more of the visualisation training!

ICS really helps but, like the board visuallisation exercises dubbed: "this training cannot be hurried up, so be patient [...] you cannot do it overnight"

ICS offer great instruction for faster growth of positional chess. Yet the knowledge and thinking system takes time to put on practice and master so don't be disappointed if your rating keeps similar. Maybe you have shown progress in the improvement of game quality (even in lost games!) and having richer idea during chess games.

ICS gave nice opening system that excludes many lines that require high-calibar carbon-based memory device and reduces many "hostile opening" into less harmless one. Great for born-strategist and nice for those who had not play positional opening before. Those with only 0~6 move opening repertoire can get excellent starting point also! (As for the advanced repertoire and white e4, I would be abstain for judging its usefullness as I saw piles of database dump:( )

Yet, if you are desperately/greedily/ambitiously hoping for quick improvement, train tactics and strive to reduce blunder rate. However, if you wish to get long term growth and soild foundation ICS is great.

Strangely I still blunders a lot even to <1100 rated kids in chesskid.com despite my strenuous training of tactic with CT-ART. Hopefully I could remove those blunders that cost be most games after finishing the Board Visuallisation Exercises.

No doubt, visualization and tactical pattern training are important. I just wonder if they over emphasized once a basic competence is achieved.

After reading DeGroot's study I'm thinking that blindfold calculation training in not tactical positions should be given more time and could be more effective.

I really hope that they could give more board visualization training.
