Local Chess Club
Well, I have finally started playing chess at the local club. It's vary small, at most we have had 5 over wait sloth's show up over the past couple of times i have attended. Great bunch of guy's, they tell me that after summer the attendance will pick up. It's all mostly 5min games. I have been able to play a couple of long games. My blitz sux! It all takes place in a small restaurant, the owner of the restaurant is great she let's us take up a couple of tables for the cost of several coffee's and a couple of beer.
My game is holding it's own! I am vary surprised, as I haven't played OTB for more years than I can count.

nothing really does compare. to have a conversation over the computer while playing just doesn't cut it. OTB you can see the emotion and watch the opponent eyes focus on a piece or target. Not to mention, a couple of beer is always a great time.

Hehehe... My chess suffers badly after alcohol, but it certainly becomes more enjoyable when I'm playing OTB with friends who are also drinking! All of a sudden we become grandmasters! lol

Re: Local Chess Club
mm, I have joined Metropolitan chess club recently and am playing over there from past 3 weeks every week thursday evening from 06:00 PM to 10:00 PM 4 hours of chess with human beings.
One first day :: played blitz 20 minutes, I can play lightning games over there won 1 game in 20 minutes with kings gambit accepted ( white ), one game draw ( with black ruy lopez ) and remaining 5 games, i have lost.
Second week :: played with different people and lost all games.
third week :: played 10 games, and won 4 games lost 6 games.
this week :: lets see how I am going to play. !!
although it is under-rated club in london, i will get easily chances to play in london league and middlesex league matches in one of the divisions.
cheers.
