I want to show you a game I played before joinig ICS. My opponent plays very fast and I am very slow thinker because of this I chose the Benko gambit and I had to learn it from scratch, I played against a player of my same elo and I wanted to compensate his speed on the clock with my knowledge of the opening, midlegame and ending, this allowed me to had an important advantage, my opponent said at the end of the game he didn't have any chance whatsoever because I played like a 2400 player, judge yourself.



If you prepare an opening at home, try to do in a way like if you prepare against yourself, because your opponent would probably do what you thougt at home.

Good job, everything turn around the difficult combination after move 25.

Anyway even if it is in the theory i don't like 7.e4 very much, it's clear that the queenside will be black, so as white i would have rather put light bishop on g2.

What i don't understand also is why white king come back to the dangerous kingside ? An attack on weak e7 seems more promising, since he is a pawn up, he has to use it, also a3 or a4 moves would free the inactive rook on a1.

I never played or faced this gambit, but the way you played it, it seems to offer a great queenside.

I played against benko once. Opponent is 2350 I was about 1500 at the time. No point discussing the outcome.But he also uses it against more serious opposition too.
