Effort at the Board Empty Effort at the Board

Post by BobbyBlunder April 30th 2010, 3:39 pm

I'm wondering what are people's methods and approaches for getting in to the right frame of mind to work hard at the board during a tournament? It's one thing to acquire some new knowledge, another thing to turn that into a skill, and a yet another thing to put in sufficient effort at the board in terms of endeavour and concentration.

Anwers on a postcard. No wait you can just use this thread.

Effort at the Board Empty Re: Effort at the Board

The week before the tournament I play slow games online, with a real board only looking at the computer to get the move played. This is key for those that study/play exclusively on the computer.

Then I listen to some angry songs and try to get in an attacking mood. Smile

I play so much otb that i dont have a routine to get ready to play tournament games. I just get at the board, fill in the notation sheet, let out a deep sigh and try the best i can.

It is important to get into the zone where your mind is ready for the challenge. do a tune up to your mind as well.
