I won a lovely game tonight on playchess. I was playing a much lower rated player but he played fairly solidly for his level, no bad blunders at least not early on and I was really pleased with the way I was able to win his crucial central d pawn, destroy his center and then pounce with a devastating coordinated attack that cumilated in a lovely Queen sac and Royal Fork. It's the first time I've had such a satisfying end to a game and I really feel the ICS material has been the key, for the ...

I wouldn't say my play is very accurate however with time pressure and pressure from an attack can break your opponent. (hopefully before he breaks you)

feel free to comment, I will post the rematch game we had after this one.

Couple of days ago I decided to do a long game on ICC with a better player (my rating is 1538 and his is 1830). It was great. I was up a pawn, but lost in the middle game. I have a lot of ideas about the game (i wrote them on the pgn bellow) but I am not sure why I lost it. Actually, this game keeps going back to my mind with a clear question: If I am up an isolated pawn and with a better position, should I trade everything and try to win with the extra-pawn or should I keep pressuring the poor ...

Local superiority of Pieces.

I played this game today and afterwards wondered. What did ICS tell me mthat would help in this game?. In month 1 local superiority of pieces is mentioned. To me in this game this translated as "Fire as many pieces towards the opponents king as possible". I am not sure how else ICS would help on this game. Thoughts are appreciated. Also No jokes because I missed an easy mate in 3!!.

Two Other questions.

1 Has anyone found a quick way to delete times before publishing PGN files

Here is a game played by my 11 yre old son. Watching it I noticed a number of the things they talked about in months 1 & 2. Consequences, King in centre, to do plan. I am sure there are more but the game worked for me. I have probably been too harsh on my sons opponent but he did seem to make a lot of small errors which led to the innevitable combination following the "accumulation of small advantages". ( If only his dad was this good at 11!!). Best viewed from black

As usual, superficial annotations and thoughts in addition to some tactical lines suggested by Fritz. As usual I made a lot of mistakes, but at least this time fewer than my opponent. As I mentioned in a d4 opening thread, I am not playing the line suggested by ICS, but the 2 g3 line. I really like it, as it is what bugged me when I played the Bird. Now I get to bug the Dutch players, but with an extra tempo.

It was really nice to have this game while reading through the month 2 material ...

I experienced some games with the d4 repertoire from ICS. I am now in month 2, so I still miss several openings (like QGA, Chigorin, Albin, Tarrasch). So after 1.d4 d5 I decided to play 2. Nf3 for a while, until my repertoire will have all the holes patched. My ideea is to follow with g3/Bg2/c4 when possible and to try to lead the game to Catalan. The positions resulted are not always Catalan, but many ideas from it may be applied. I selected some games, not without mistakes of course. but this ...

Chess.com slow games: about CSQ

as i mentioned earlier in another topic, I started very recently to play some slow games on chess.com. unlike in blitz, when i have barely time to think 2 moves ahead, in slow games i have the opportunity to use what I am learning on ICS, with positional evaluation and so on. also, I can try the new openings from ICS materials.

Now some notes about the game below:

- I started to play a new opening, Taimanov Sicilian. I will give Najdorf a try, when I will have all ICS Najdorf related materials; ...
